Hello.

🔸 This letter is written to Your Excellency, by a peace-seeking pro-democracy [Iranian] political prisoner who is serving his 11th year in the Evin Prison--and hears from inside the prison, every day and every night, the terrible sounds and vibrations of the missiles and bombs of a destructive attack on Iran; and you issued the order to start this war as the President of the United States of America.
I am writing this letter to express my firm opposition to this war, that has already caused great damage and casualties and, if it continues and possibly escalates [even further], could lead to a full-scale tragedy, imposing even greater suffering on people who have no role in this incendiary act [of aggression] and who oppose it; this suffering can be avoided.

🔸 According to the Foreign Minister of Oman, the mediator in the recent [pre-war] negotiations, Iran's proposals in the last round of talks in Geneva made the agreement fully accessible and could have addressed Washington's nuclear concerns. Therefore, it is necessary that you answer the world, and especially the two nations of Iran and the United States this question: Why did you issue the order to attack Iran during the negotiations? And why have you then announced, again, your new decision to bomb civilian targets, including power plants, refineries, bridges, desalination plants, and other vital infrastructures in Iran, despite your own repeated emphases on achieving the set goals and the four-to-six-week timeframe for the war?

[The war you and Israel have started] is a military aggression that has not only caused, so far, massive suffering and hardship to our people, but also it has resulted in nothing but weakening our country's civil society, our economy's private sector, our national growth and development, and the transition to [secular] democracy in Iran.

Accordingly, the Iranian side must also do its part, by avoiding win-lose views of the situation, to prevent [even further] destruction of our country. That is, recognizing the democratic demands of the majority of our people, and addressing international concerns about Iran's nuclear activities, would open the way to an honorable agreement. But the share and the responsibility of the U.S. government and its President are much greater, because this illegal, immoral, costly, and avoidable war was started by the armed forces of your country--upon your orders. Therefore, foresight, humanity, and even the national interests of the United States dictate that Your Excellency, as the initiator of the war, show courage and stop this destructive war today. Stopping this war will benefit everyone, especially the two nations of Iran and America, and will be met with the approval of the world.
